Known for their tangy flavour and vibrant colour, these oranges are packed with health benefits that we could all use at this time of year, not to mention they're perfect for homemade marmalade.
One of our lovely customers wanted to share their fool proof recipe with us:
Ingredients:
1kg Seville oranges
2L water
1.5kg sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions:
Wash the oranges and slice them in half. Remove the seeds and set them aside.
Slice the remaining fruit thinly, including the peel.
Place the sliced oranges, water, and seeds (tied in a muslin cloth) into a large pot. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 2 hours until the peel softens.
Remove the seeds, then stir in the sugar and lemon juice. Bring back to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the marmalade reaches setting point.
Pour into sterilised jars, seal, and allow to cool.
These delicious fruits have quite a short season so come and grab some while you can!
